A beautiful story about becoming more fully yourself without losing the people and places you love. I was especially drawn to Cassia’s struggle with being the capable person everyone depends on, and to the way the winter garden itself becomes a reflection of everything she is trying to understand about her life.

The settings are vivid, the magical elements are whimsical and thoughtful, and Wyatt is a wonderfully grounded character. I also loved the touches of humor throughout the garden. They gave the story lightness without taking away from its emotional depth.
